Is your “Cache” affecting your browser performance with eResidentCare software?
Internet browsers work great most of the time, however sometimes they can act a little funny. When you are logged onto eResidentCare (or any website) and you are noticing strange things like some actions that used to work are no longer working, there are a couple options you can take to address this.
Although most browsers like to automatically update, the first thing you should do is check to make sure you have the latest browser version. If you have the most current browser the next thing to try is to clear out the cache. Browsers use caching to reduce wait times, it works like this, large items from an internet site get downloaded and stored on your computer so that when it needs to display the information it can just load it from the hard drive instead of downloading it again. This concept was mainly used for dial-up internet access back when transfer speeds were slow. Sometimes it becomes necessary to clear this out from time to time. How to do this; go into whatever browser you use, and go to the “Options” or “Preferences” area and look for either caching or history, and then do what needs to be done to clear it!
Since we recommend Chrome with eResidentCare, I am going to give you an example of how you can clear history in Chrome. I selected “History” from the menu. Then you can click on “Clear browsing data” or you can just select the items you want to remove and click “Remove selected items.”
If you’re unsure how to do this, a great way to find out is to go to Google and type in “How to clear the cache in <replace with your browser brand>.”
