My residents photo looked fine on the device I took the photo, why is it upside down on eResidentCare?

Your photo's orientation is most likely the cause. When the photo was taken with your camera or smart device, such as an iPad, that device added a tag to that photo. This tag allows devices to interpret what is right-side up. Meaning that even if the photo was taken upside-down you will still 'view' the photo correctly. Many programs, but not all, will use that tag to interpret the correct orientation and automatically rotate the photo. This is why the same image will view right-side up on some programs/devices and upside-down on others.

How do I fix my photos orientation?

You will need to open your photo in an image editor program and rotate it.

We suggest using a free online picture resizer.

<http://www.picresize.com/>This is a very easy to use picture resizer program that you can rotate, crop and resize any size photos.

To rotate your photo follow theses steps:
1. Find the Rotate menu and choose how you want to rotate your photo. In this case you would choose to 'Flip Vertical'.

2. Choose 'No Change' if your photo is already 90 x 90 pixels. Otherwise you can choose custom size and enter 90 x 90 pixels.
3. Save.

The good thing about this site is that it reduces the pictures file size down to 15KB or less which keeps our web pages very light and fast.

How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

The easiest way to prevent rotation issues on your photos on devices such as the iPhone & iPad is to make sure that the volume buttons are facing down when you take your photos.
