The current ICD9 Diagnosis list is coming from CMS, you can not add to this table but you can edit a diagnosis description once it is assigned to a resident. NOTE: A quick way to find the ICD9 for Gerd is to search on the internet (using a search engine like Google, or your favorite) for 'ICD9 for Gerd'. Enter the code to search for it in the program table. Once you find it, select it and add it to your resident's record.

You can edit the name to match the information coming from the doctor.

  1. Background: ICD-9-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 9th edition, Clinical Modification) is a set of codes used by physicians to indicate diagnosis. The ICD-9-CM is the HIPAA transaction code set for diagnosis coding and used for billing. Many times instead of giving the correct ICD-9 Code and description, physicians use their own words, which can be confusing when entering resident medical information because their descriptions are not found in the list. We have heard this many times that our ICD-9 list does not match what the physicians are giving out, hence we added the function to edit the description.
