The system keeps all history of discontinued medication orders. To discontinue a current medication order follow the steps below.

1. First, select your resident and open their records. Select Medications under the menu Physician Orders.

2. the resident medication screen lists all current orders. The list has column headings. The column labeled DC Order has a red X, click the X to discontinue an order. When X is clicked, a screen confirming the discontinuation will pop open. See screen shot below to locate the DC Order column.

NOTE: when a medication is discontinued this is what happens to the eMAR and the MAR report:

The system tracks the time a medication order is being discontinued (DC). Therefore the system looks at the time of DC and compares that to the passing times and determines how that medication and passing time will appear on the eMAR and MAR report.

1. If an order has 2 passing times (8:00 and 20:00) and the time is 14:00 the day the order is discontinued. The eMAR will show the 8:00 for that day and not the 20:00, the MAR will show an 'x' for the 20:00 passing time for that day.

2.If an order has a passing time of 20:00 and the current time is 10:00 the day the order is discontinued.  The eMAR will not show the 20:00 for that day, the MAR will show an 'x' for the 20:00 passing time for that day.
